Event Description

Discover the art of crafting beautiful silver jewellery in this immersive one-day silversmithing and silver clay workshop. Perfect for beginners and enthusiasts alike, this course provides hands-on experience in creating bespoke silver pieces that are uniquely yours.

Unlock the timeless craft of silver clay and silversmithing in our immersive workshop. Silversmithing has a rich history, tracing back over 5,000 years to ancient civilisations such as Egypt and Mesopotamia, where skilled artisans shaped silver into intricate jewellery and decorative objects. Over the centuries, techniques evolved across cultures, from the fine detailing of ancient Rome to the elaborate silverwork of the European Renaissance. Today, silversmithing blends tradition with modern creativity, allowing artisans to produce both classic and contemporary pieces.

By the end of the course, you will have crafted beautiful and functional pieces of authentic silver jewellery, designed and created by you.

Our workshop is designed to inspire and ignite your passion for working with silver. Spend the day exploring techniques, experimenting with textures and creating a stunning, one-of-a-kind piece that reflects your own style and personal flair.

What’s included:

All materials and resources are provided.

Under the guidance of experienced silversmiths, you will learn to craft a custom-fit silver bangle, tailored precisely to your wrist. Using traditional silversmithing techniques, you will shape, hammer and polish your piece to bring it to life. You will also explore the possibilities of silver clay — a highly versatile material that becomes 99.9% pure silver once fired. Silver clay can be used to add decorative elements to your bangle, or to create standalone pieces such as earrings, charms or a necklace pendant.

You will also learn how to make custom moulds, capturing textures from nature or favourite pieces of costume jewellery. You are welcome to bring along leaves, shells or other small objects that inspire you, which can be used to create distinctive silver impressions. By the end of the workshop, you will have crafted beautiful and functional pieces of authentic silver jewellery. Hallmarking can be arranged after the course for an additional cost.

This welcoming workshop is suitable for all skill levels, offering a relaxed and supportive environment where creativity can flourish.

Our instructors are always available to assist, advise and guide you throughout the day.

A carefully prepared lunch will be provided during the day, giving you time to relax and connect with fellow participants. To finish the afternoon, a traditional cream tea will be served. Tea and coffee are available throughout the day.
